Peugeot 2008 Car leasing
The UK is very much a nation of SUV, crossover and 4x4 enthusiasts – both personal and business leasing customers enjoy the higher-driving position, safety and spacious interiors for families (and pets). The ever popular 2008, which is an elevated 208, made its way into the world of electrification with the all-electric model going on sale in 2020.
The zero emission 2008 is one to consider against the Mokka-e, Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro EV. And not only is the 2008 a striking car visually, with a unique interior, this also benefits from the quality engineering which Stellantis are now being known for. For any families looking for a smaller electric SUV to lease on a budget, make sure the Peugeot forms part of the discussion.
Not unlike their smaller hatchback, the 208, the SUV offering will operate on similar specification levels with the following line-up:
There’s also some nice extras and touches to consider adding to the new e-2008 including the panoramic sunroof, 11kW triphase upgrade (for quicker AC charging sessions), park assist and heated front seats.
But should I, or the company, be leasing the Peugeot e-2008? Looking for the best finance product on this small SUV can cause some our customers headaches. Must of this is generally down to the poor information on electric cars and different products available. In terms of ensuring the 2008 is correct for you in the pure electric format use our leading “Living with your …” tools to assess everything from range – charging times – cables – charging cost – charge point infrastructure and beyond. In terms of the “leasing”, or contract hire as we refer to it, you just have to understand that this is a long-term rental based on a 2, 3 or 4 year contract.
We call it usership because you never own or buy the car. For a personal customer looking at this, simply compare a lease against a PCP (which works in a similar fashion with the exception of a balloon / GFV at contract end) or Hire Purchase (HP) which is effectively a loan secured against the car for you to pay off. For businesses not wanting to use rental products, then consider a finance lease (which works in a similar fashion with the exception of a balloon / final rental at contract end) or similar HP solutions. It isn’t about right or wrong; this is about choosing something suitable for your needs and requirements.
And while the e-2008 offers 2% BiK in the electric format for your business and salary customers, this doesn’t mean similar financial benefits don’t apply for PCH customers too. Many will note company car and salary sacrifice schemes moving to electrification as they are not only the most tax effective solution for the driver (at 2% BiK the tax exposure is nominal) but they can represent much better option for the company and fleet managers too. And all types of customers can enjoy the enhanced Whole of Life cost savings on fuel, maintenance and servicing with the e-2008.
On the subject of electric performance, note that the e-2008 SUV adopts the same 45 kWh usable lithium battery from the 208. This delivers 100 kW (or 134hp) for 0 – 62 times of 8.5 seconds and 93 mph top speeds. On a full charge the car will operate at around 130 miles in colder weather (combined) and a comprehensive 180 miles in warmer weather (combined).
For charging, a standard car will take just over 7 hours on the 7.4 kW AC maximum from 0 – 100% with the 101 kW DC rapid charging capability providing 10 – 80% times of 25 minutes.
