Leasing a Peugeot e-208 in the UK

Are electric cars ever going to be affordable in the UK?  The unbelievable success of electric cars in the UK has not been without critique or concern. Indeed, many customers looking for the best cheap fully electric cars to lease were often concerned by a limited choice and the expense; not every personal, business or salary sacrifice customer can afford an Audi, Mercedes or Tesla option.

Also added to this was the continued reduction in the Government’s plug-in grant which began at a generous £5000 and is now set at £1500 (at May 2022). But the good news is that Peugeot, who are fast becoming one of the leading cost-effective automotive manufacturers, are producing small electric hatchbacks and many of these do qualify for the grant which is in place.

Peugeot, forming part of the industry giants Stellantis, are now a force to be reckoned with in the world of BEVs; in 2021 the sister-company Vauxhall produced the UK’s 9th best-selling EV in the Corsa-e which accumulated some 5,500+ registrations. And Peugeot, with their dynamic and exciting hot hatch e-208, are not far behind on numbers.

Without question, for those customers enquiring about the perfect city-car or low-mileage (and cheap) EV, the Peugeot hatchback will be one to add to the list along with the Corsa-e, Renault Zoe and Fiat 500e. But is there enough within the e-208 range? Just look below to see some of the great specifications available:

  • Active Premium – at £30,195 this base model offers 16” alloys, 7” touchscreen, LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors and manual air conditioning;
  • Allure Premium – at £31,495 enjoy the Peugeot 3D i-Cockpit, 180 degree reversing camera, automatic air conditioning, leather effects and the 4 USB sockets;
  • GT – from £33,445 customers benefit from 17” alloys, 10” colour touchscreen, 3D navigation, full LED headlights and GT styling; and
  • GT Premium – the top of the line £34,345 option includes keyless entry and go, adaptive cruise control, lane position assist, alcantara trim and 1&” Bronx alloys.

There’s also a whole host of great extras to consider including the 11kW triphase upgrade (for quicker AC charging sessions), park assist, heated front seats and a panoramic glass sunroof. Simply use our leading EV website to configure your electric Peugeot.

But can small cars really deliver a positive driving experience?  The concern for many UK personal and business lease customers is that the battery capability and technology will not deliver an enjoyable result. But in using our “Living with your …” tools, you soon understand just how and what each electric car can deliver, meaning you never choose something which isn’t suitable for your needs and requirements.

Taking the 208 electric the vehicle adopts a 45 kWh usable lithium battery which delivers 100 kW (or 134hp) for 0 – 62 times of 8.1 seconds and 93 mpg top speeds. On a full charge the car will operate at around 145 miles in colder weather (combined) and a comprehensive 205 miles in warmer weather (combined). For charging, a standard car will take just over 7 hours on the 7.4 kW AC maximum from 0 – 100% with the 101 kW DC rapid charging capability providing 10 – 80% times of 25 minutes.

Where the 208 really has the chance to shine is with some of the younger drivers in the UK. Many of the younger generation are seeing the green benefits with electric motoring and are adopting EVs in anticipation of a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future. With Clean Air Zones, emission-based charging and a push in company cars / fleets to zero-emissions, the e-car lease team expect many under 30s to abandon the combustion proportion.

Looking for a leasing deal on the e-208?  Unlike many other dealerships, brokers and finance companies, our team only supply EVs. For our customers this means the leading advice and assistance from one the UK’s true experts. Finding your deal can be done on a self-serve basis by selecting your perfect car on the website and using the instant quote calculator to create a contract around your needs and requirements.

How much is a Peugeot e-208 Electric to lease?
Ranging between £30,000 - £35,000 (at the time of writing in May 2022), expect the best electric 208 deals to range between £250 – £375 per month depending on the car, specification and contract you need.

Is a Peugeot e-208 a good car to lease?
Stellantis have such economies of scale that the information, technology and engineering sharing will inevitably create some of the best small electric cars to lease. The team at What Car? rate this at 4 out of 5, CarWow say 8/10 and Autocar at 4/5. While the 208 might not be the best in all aspects, this will be a top-rated car in most departments and our e-car lease customers are unlikely to be disappointed with this selection.

Is a Peugeot e-208 electric lease right for me or the business?
Moving to an all-electric 208 does need more thought in comparison to the petrol and diesel alternatives. That’s why our “Living with your …” tool is so key to this as it sets out the key facets – charging times, seasonal ranges, cost per mile and company car tax calculators. Our website gives you all the information you need to know if you, or the fleet manager, should be leasing this as your next new EV. For high-mileage leasing customers, make sure the range (and charging sessions) are going to be suitable for you.

Where do I find the best Peugeot e-208 lease deals in the UK?
While the e-car team offer some of the best value deals, many of our customers will use price comparison websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco or review websites like Discover EV and the GreenCarGuide. In some cases, we can price match or beat our competition. But the lasing industry is unique and there are sometimes better value deals elsewhere. We always suggest a visit to your local Peugeot retailer to look at and test-drive the 208 before committing to lease or buy. And, while you’re there get a comparable PCP, HP or Lease Purchase offer – should we lease or buy the electric 208? Get the quote and you decide.

What is the Cheapest Peugeot e-208 Electric leasing option?
At the time of writing (May 2022) the ELECTRIC HATCHBACK100kW Active Premium 50kWh 5dr Auto at around £30,000. However, do note that we sometimes get better discounts and deals on higher models, like the GT, which make this cheaper for you or the company.

What is the range of an electric Peugeot e-208?
The range of the e-208 is very much based around the temperature, driving style and your driving routes. For example, in colder climates expect the hatchback to delivery 125 miles on a motorway compared to the 170 miles in urban conditions. In warmer climates, expect 160 miles on a motorway and 265 miles in the city. Please try to avoid using the WLTP range figure offered by many other businesses as THE reason for choosing this car. Research your new EV properly!
