As we start June 2026, the biggest story in the electric car world still remains to be the Ferrari Luce. As reported in the BBC the attempt to address the Chinese EV dominance has resulted in a “backlash” for one of the world’s most-popular car manufacturers.
Even the support of the Italian prime minster and Pope Leo was not enough to help the brand from losing 8% of its share value, with a host of harsh criticism and humorous memes also offered. Some key figures have hit out at Ferrari for watering down their brands and risking their aspirational legacy.
However, as the BBC covers, the Purosangue SUV was equally controversial when it launched, as this was the first SUV type vehicle to feature the Prancing Pony emblem.

However, Ferrari did need to address the absence of an SUV option, when car brands like Lamborghini with their Urus, Rolls Royce with their Cullinan and Bentley with their Bentayga have found success. In the world of electric, SUVs and 4x4s are king, so to introduce an SUV with battery technology is perhaps a decision of logic rather than emotion. But will the Ferrari EV approach work or not?
As the UK, and the rest of the world, battles the quandary of the Ferrari EV, the world of used EVs continues to get more important. UK confidence in battery solutions is very much growing, particularly due to the cost of living created by global conflicts, but also with the realisation that plug-in solutions are not the enemy of the driver. As time progresses and obstacles are being overcome – batteries degrade quickly, there are not enough charge point solutions, EVs are complicated, EVs are too expensive to buy / lease – the world of used electric car solutions is very much increasing.
As reported in the SMMT record levels of electrified solutions changed hands in Q1 of 2026 with around 86,943 sales recorded. Better choice, robust charging infrastructure and lower fuel costs all driving the change in behaviour.
Both personal and business, now looking into ex-lease cars for their motoring solution. Being able to transact with a NI customer is something we can now do with the used e-car lease programme.

Because of different rules, movement of cars from England to Northern Ireland is difficult after the impact of Brexit. In particular, the EU type-approval standards are different to our GB standards, so the movement of goods is not quite as easy as one would think.
When you consider that additional documentation is required to move a car from GB to Northern Ireland and the complex importation tax / VAT, there are several key concerns. You also have to understand the different rules around a vehicle being registered in Northern Ireland vs GB for MOTs and other vehicle tax services. In the UK many leasing companies do not allow new cars to be leased to NI customers for these reasons.
However, our used-EV programme is equally available to Northern Irish and Great British customers. To facilitate this, the customer must adhere to one of the delivery solutions below:
Pursuing a used-EV lease is a positive step towards affordable motoring. Not only are the choices of cars increasing but the pricing position is also becoming more palatable for customers. The pros of a used-electric car lease include:
