Leasing a Vauxhall Corsa-e in the UK

One of the biggest obstacles to leasing an electric car in the UK is often cost. Do all electric cars cost too much? This type of critique is not wholly unfounded as many of the first EVs to reach personal and business lease customers were prestige and luxury, with many having price tags of over £40,000.

The concern was that other manufacturers, like Ford, Peugeot and Vauxhall, would be slow to keep up with some of the leading manufacturers like Mercedes, Polestar and Tesla. But with Vauxhall now forming part of the Stellantis consortium, economies of scale for battery technology, production and design was made completely accessible. And in 2020, the ever-popular Corsa became available in a pure electric format for UK customers to buy or lease.

But is the Vauxhall Corsa-e desirable as an electric vehicle?

In 2022, the Corsa (including all engine formats) has been consistently the number one selling vehicle in the UK – finally removing the Ford Fiesta as the best-seller. By making the Corsa available in  a zero-emission option, you have the optimal car for those personal or business contract hire customers who have a more restricted budget (as at 2022 the Corsa still benefits from the UK Government’s Plug-In Grant of £1500). And no longer are the smaller hatchbacks a compromise vehicle either. The latest electric Corsa is available in a number specifications, none of which leave an e-car lease customer disappointed:

SE Premium – 7” screen with navigation, 16” alloys, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, climate control and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto;
Griffin – 17” alloy wheels, LED interior lights, rear-view camera, Black roof and automatic lights;
• SRI Premium – 17” bi-colour alloys wheels, climate control, dark tinted windows, sports body styling and sports seats; and
• Elite Premium – 10” touchscreen, Intellilux LED matrix lights, front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats and steering wheel, keyless entry and start

So while the Corsa-e is an affordable EV with style and specification, can it deliver a positive experience on the battery / functional aspects?

The 50 kWh lithium-ion battery delivers between 125 – 170 miles of driving in colder climates on a full charge coupled with 160 – 265 miles in warmer weather. While an ideal low-mileage and city / urban solution, the Corsa will not be the most suitable of high-mileage company car options (particularly on motorway journeys).

But don’t be disappointed by the Corsa, the 8 second 0 - 62mph times from a 100 kW output plus a 93 mph top speed demonstrates just how exciting this smaller car is. But can a Corsa charge quickly enough? The 11 kW AC maximum allows for a 0 – 100% charge in just 5 hours, with the 101 kW DC maximum allowing for 25-minute rapid charging (from 10 – 80%).

But isn’t an electric Corsa-e just limited to business customers?

One of the key catalysts for the UK’s seismic growth in EVs is very much related to business leasing and salary sacrifice schemes. Driving a company car (or Sal Sac car) is not “free”. By this we mean that there is a tax consideration when you utilise a vehicle which is provided to you by your employer. Before agreeing to have a company car, the employee should use the vehicle’s value (P11d), their income tax bracket (20%, 40% or 45%) and the vehicle’s emissions (shown as g/km).

As an EV emits ZERO CO2 from its tailpipe, from April 2022, this means a 2% BiK for company car and salary sacrifice customers will apply. The conclusion is some considerable tax savings compared to petrol and diesel options. However, personal lease customers can equally enjoy a Corsa-e. Because contract hire is a usership product, there are no disposal issues or concerns around depreciation. A customer simply uses the vehicle for 2 – 4 years on a contract based around their mileage and with the ability to include maintenance (known as a funder-maintained contract), you have true fixed cost motoring.

How much is a Vauxhall Corsa Electric to lease?
With over 4,000 registrations between January and March 2022, the Corsa is the best-selling car in the UK (and has often been in the top 10 for many years). One of the reasons behind this is that the Vauxhall brand represents true value to the e-car lease personal and business contract hire customers. Depending on the term, annual mileage and initial rental, expect to pay around £200 - £300 per month on your new Corsa-e, making this one of the cheapest electric cars to lease in the UK. As a broker, not a lender or dealership, our array of finance companies and dealership connections means that we generally have a leading special offer on a Corsa EV at any time. If you are looking for the best price, just use the e-car lease website to build the perfect contract.

Is a Vauxhall Corsa Electric a good car to lease?
In moving under the Stellantis umbrella, the Vauxhall product has become more closely aligned with Citroen, DS and Peugeot. The results have been nothing other than positive, with the Corsa transitioning from being a “lesser Fiesta alternative” to a truly quality and stylish hatchback. The latest Corsa is anything other than cheap in its finish notwithstanding the value it offers our e-car lease customers. Just look at the Elite Premium with the 17” alloys, heated seats, 10” screen with navigation and LED headlights if you need something a little more special. The Corsa is one of the best low-mileage electric cars to lease in the UK

Is a Vauxhall Corsa Electric lease right for me or the business?
Moving to electric cars can be daunting for many e-car lease customers. But whether you are a first-time EV driver or an experienced zero emission customer, our electric-only website will deliver a comprehensive sales process – range, charging times, charging speeds, charging cables and charge point locations can all be ascertained using our “Living with …” tools (free of charge.) Just because the EV will be more environmentally friendly, present a better company car tax situation and provide an incredible driving experience doesn’t mean that considered analysis shouldn’t take place. We want all our e-car lease customers to truly enjoy their new Vauxhall EV.

Where do I find the best Electric Vauxhall Corsa lease deals in the UK?
Many of the best e-car lease Vauxhall Corsa electric car leasing prices are all displayed on our pricing partners websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco. However, our e-car lease website will show all of the amazing deals and the latest offers we have. And, unlike our competitors, we make available to you, or the company, the complete EV package and information. From the car to maintenance to insurance to charge points, we ensure you get all the facts before committing to your deal. This is why we are the number one electric car specialists in the UK.

What is the cheapest Vauxhall Corsa Electric leasing option?
At the time of writing, the cheapest electric Corsa to lease is the 100kW SE Premium 50kWh 5dr Auto [11kWCh]. With a price tag of just over £25,000, this will represent the best value model within the range. However, because e-car lease work with an array of finance companies, from time to time we get amazing discounts on other specifications which means that more expensive and better models may in fact be cheaper to lease. There are subtle differences between buying and leasing a new electric car.

What is the range of an Electric Vauxhall Corsa?
One of the early questions from our e-car lease customers is what range can their new Corsa-e offer. With “range” we try to avoid providing just one figure, as the distance your EV travels is contingent on factors like weather conditions, driving style and the driver behaviour. For example, colder weather can impact battery efficiency, which is why pre-conditioning your battery is so important. Longer motorway journeys and harsher acceleration are equally less efficient styles of driving. With the e-car lease “Living with your …” tools, much of this is made clear to you at the point of the enquiry. With the Corsa EV, the overall “real world range” is around 170 miles, some 40 miles less than advertised online. The reason for this, is that we only show real world statistics on our website, so customers understand the realistic performance as opposed to the best case scenario
