Leasing a Fisker Ocean Electric in the UK

One of the most exciting new EVs for 2023 is, without a doubt, the Fisker Ocean. As at May 2023, the wheels are very much in motion for the release of this all-electric phenomenon. During 2023, the automotive media has been pedalling a number of pro-Ocean stories, with many noting the exceptional range this new car will offer compared to any other electric car on sale in the UK.

With Tesla and Polestar setting the standard for EV-only car production, it’s amazing to see just how far this industry has evolved and how UK leasing customers are attuned to new brands and options. There’s more to automotive life than Audi, BMW and Mercedes it seems.

But what specifications are available on the Ocean?

At present (May 2023), the Fisker group will be bringing some exclusive Launch Editions to market as part of their worldwide promotion. Some 5,000 exclusive vehicles will be produced and delivered worldwide to customers. Moving forwards, there will be 4 key specifications for customers to choose from including:

  •  Ocean Sport – (circa £35,000) a single motor FWD model will offer a rear view monitor, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, emergency lane departure, parking assist, auto beam assist, 17.1” central touchscreen, premium sound, BigSky Roof, App as Key, key fob, See Me Signal and Winter Package (option);
  • Ocean Ultra – (circa £47,000) a dual motor AWD model will add the Hyper mode, Smart Traction (option), Premium Sound+, OpenSKy Roof, Unique Ultra interior;
  •  Ocean One – (circa £60,000) a dual motor AWD model will add Boost Mode, Launch Editions specification (22” alloys, MaliBlue Interior and Digital Signature), SolarSkyroof, 360 degree surround view, automatic-emergency braking-premium, door opening warning, front and rear cross traffic mitigation, evasive steering and integrated drive assist (including adaptive cruise control), Pulse Audio System, Limo Mode, front/rear heated seats, remote vehicle locator and drive control; and
  •  Ocean Extreme – (circa £60,000) a dual motor AWD model will essentially mirror the Launch Edition Ocean One moving forwards but will have aesthetic differences.

And how do each of the above options perform– are they good EVs for range, charging times and performance?

In terms of the options above, UK lease customers can note the below:

  •  Ocean Sport – the 75 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times of 7.4 seconds, 99 mph top speeds and 205 kW (or 275 hp). The initial model will be FWD. Expect a combined winter range of 200 miles with warmer weather allowing for 270 miles. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 200 kW DC maximum allowing 33 minute 10 – 80% times. A spacious family SUV, this will still have a robust cargo volume, towing capacity (braked) of around 1000kg and vehicle fuel equivalent of 127mpg;
  •  Ocean Ultra – the 105 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times of 4.2 seconds, 124 mph top speeds and 400 kW (or 536 hp). This will be an AWD. Expect a combined winter range of 275 miles with warmer weather allowing for 370 miles. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 11 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the impressive 250 kW DC maximum allowing 34 minute 10 – 80% times. A spacious family SUV, this will still have a robust cargo volume, towing capacity (braked) of around 1800kg and vehicle fuel equivalent of 125 mpg; and
  •  Ocean One / Extreme - the 105 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times of 3.9 seconds, 127 mph top speeds and 420 kW (or 563 hp). A spacious family SUV, this will still have a robust cargo volume, towing capacity (braked) of around 1800kg and vehicle fuel equivalent of 125 mpg.

Ready to “feel the Ocean”?

While many lease customers will be comparing the Ocean to the upcoming Polestar 4, the Tesla Model Y, BMW iX3 and Ford Mustang Mach-e, the e-car team do think this will prove to be one of the best EVs to buy in 2023 / 2024.

Not unlike many other manufacturers, UK customers can register their interest and reserve their ocean via the Fisker website. You will be asked to pay a £250 to reserve your build slot, with a further £5000 (TBC) to confirm your build. Once you have the full build and configuration, just send this to our expert EV team we can provide you with a contract hire / leasing quotation whether you are a personal or business customer (or Salary Sacrifice).

And if you do need more consultative and detailed advice, don’t forget that our electric-only website provides the key facts on what this new EV will deliver. To make the process even more simple and clear, our latest EVC™ will tell you, the business or fleet manager everything you NEED to know about the ocean.

From an accurate range asessment through to charging times, costs and performance, our EVC™makes the process of buying or leasing your new Ocean so easy. And don’t forget our partners can help you with charge point location, charge point installation (domestic and commercial) plus motor insurance!  For more bespoke assistance, don’t forget to call our expert team at e-car lease on 01942 910 001 or email at [email protected].

How much is a Fisker Ocean to lease?
With no official launch, we can only speculate as to what the new Fisker Ocean will cost to lease in the UK. The good news is that a cheap EV to lease should arrive with the Ocean Sport, at £35,000, so there should be affordable rentals at around £350 - £500 per month (contract dependent). The bigger battery options at £50,000 and upwards are likely to cost £500 - £850 per month, contract and specification dependent

Is a Fisker Ocean a good car to lease?
Because the new Ocean has not yet launched, we have limited information on how good this EV really is. The Electrifying team rate this as 9/10 in their preview with Autocar saying this “could shine by being genuinely different”. And Fully-Charged rate this as a long-range EV which “wants cars to be fun again”. And Fisker must rate their own product with a 6 year / 140,000 mile warranty.  A contender for the EV of the year 2023 maybe.

Is a Fisker Ocean lease right for me or the business?
An all-electric SUV is always going to be well received by most consumers and business customers in the UK. And the fact you can introduce a solar roof for charging your own vehicle on the move, is likely to appeal to the green car and eco fans. But moving into an EV does need additional due diligence and review compared to a combustion or hybrid vehicle. This is where our e-car lease “Living with your…” EV is so crucial because it identifies the real-world range, charging times, charging costs, battery capabilities and charge point infrastructure. For a business or salary sacrifice customer use our P11d, company car tax and whole of life calculator to understand what tax savings are available to you with the Ocean.

Where do I find the best Fisker Ocean lease deals in the UK?
At the present (July 2022) there are no brokers, finance companies or price comparison websites offering this to buy or lease. But when the Fisker crossover launches, check the e-car lease special offers section for our best prices. If you do want to check the market, use leasing comparison websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher or LeaseLoco. And if Fisker establish a store or dealership, then visit them to get a test drive. Is it better to buy or lease the Ocean? Procure a Hire Purchase, Personal Contract Purchase or Contract Purchase quote then you can compare this alongside our contract hire solutions.

What is the cheapest Fisker Ocean leasing option?
At the time of writing (July 2022) the Ocean Sport, at around £35,000, will be the best value leasing offer within the Fisker Inc product suite.

What is the range of a Fisker Ocean?
As highlighted on our amazing electric-only website, you will note that our “range” is always shown as “between” two numbers. The reason we do this is that EVs perform differently according to weather, driver speed and behaviours. For example, the Ocean Sport will offer 170 miles on a motorway and 235 miles in urban conditions in colder weather compared to 215 miles on a motorway and 340 miles in urban conditions in warmer weather. An Ocean Extreme will cover 225 miles on a motorway and 310 miles in urban conditions in colder weather compared to 285 miles on a motorway and 455 miles in urban conditions in warmer weather.

Can you tow with a Fisker Ocean?
Yes – you will be able to tow your caravan or trailer with this EV SUV.

What is the towing capacity of the Fisker Ocean?
The Ocean Sport has a braked towing capacity of 1090 kg. The Ocean Extreme has an impressive towing capacity of 1815 kg (braked).

What is the MPG of the Fisker Ocean?
This Ocean Sport has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 147 mpg and the Ocean Extreme has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 127 mpg.
