The BBC were quick to announce a major update in the UK’s electric industry as the Land Rover brand finally confirmed that their Range Rover (full size) is finally ready to order for UK customers.

As the BBC note, this news arrived nearly a year later than what was originally anticipated, and the JLR team announced some turbulent times amidst a profit drop. However, in a new move by the group, over 10,000 workers are being up-skilled to manage the new processes brought about by the electrification direction, with the Solihull plant and other West Midlands plants to be utilised to produce their first product.
In addition, the Tata Group are currently building a global battery business under the Agratas brand. This will create some 1,500 operational jobs with the full site expected to employ 4,000 people engaged in various elements of the battery technology segment.

As the BBC do say, this is a “profound” change for the company with Professor David Bailey highlighting that this is a new era for the firm and the new products will look to make a real impression in the market.
While we cover this in a further EV news segment, the confirmation of the Range Rover going electric could not arrive at a better time. As reported in the SMMT August 2026 saw 28,063 BEVs registered, a 27.7% increase on 2025.

As we stand in September 2026, there have been 355,746 BEV registrations in the UK, with this fuel form now holding a 25.62% market share. With ¼ of what customers are buying being an electric proposition, brands like Land Rover can no longer afford to be remiss and stand on the sidelines.
The “Original Luxury Electric SUV” from Range Rover is a refinement redefined. The “quietest” RR to date, this new option aims to provide unwavering performance, comfort and class via the quiet confidence. From the flawless surfaces to the finest materials, the interior presents a calm sanctuary for the driver to enjoy.
With key highlights on this matter like the Active Noise Cancellation glass, PM 2.5 filtration and nanoe X technology air system, along with the contemporary Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat, the luxury is not absent with this car. With a modern elegance and reductive design aesthetic, the vehicle looks every bit the Range Rover we know and love.

Some of the nice finishes include the powered sliding charging doors, puddle lamps with EV lettering, intricate front grille and EV specific alloys / 22” wheels. However, this is not just a vehicle to stand on ceremony; the SUV is designed for the outdoors and to be used as a workhorse. This includes the Terrain Response system, water wading abilities, class-leading towing capability and responsive torque.
As you can furnish from the Range Rover manufacturer website, the innovation in the vehicle battery is second to none. Also, it is great that the manufacturer has noted the importance of this aspect, with it being fundamental to the driver’s enjoyment.

While common sense, this is something we often see ignored or discounted. The ThermAssist system ensures the battery has a 40% reduction in heating energy consumption to help in the variable weather conditions, the 344 Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery cells are arranged in an innovative double-stack formation for peak power density and the twin motors ensure 20% more torque than comparable options in the market.
After a year of thorough testing, in all conditions, the team are ready to make this new SUV a proposition.
