The era of luxury SUVs has arrived for the EV world. No sooner did we see the announcement and launch of the Range Rover full-size and the Range Rover Sport, the Bentley team have finally brought their first derivative of battery electric to the UK market.

Why are luxury car makers suddenly making the move into BEVs? There has almost been a cultural change in attitudes towards zero-emission, with a more ready acceptance from the UK's new and used markets. While the increasing cost of petrol and diesel at the pumps is having a major influence, the growing robustness and ability in the actual vehicles is allowing the British public to accept the new changing form of fuel.
However, many American and European brands have found the last 1 - 2 years to be quite difficult, as Chinese brands have swarmed the markets with a host of cost-effective and affordable EV and PHEV options.

But is this, as The Telegraph suggests, about to come to an end? Unlike the EU and USA, British politics has been favourable to China, with only a standard 10% tariff applied to Chinese built options. It comes as no surprise in the SMMT statistics to see options like the Jaecoo 7 at the top of vehicle registrations with over 10,000 registered in September 2026 alone.
However, the policy is now under review as Britain needs to work more cohesively and collaboratively with the EU if it wishes to enjoy the "made in Europe" scheme being introduced. The UK is about to create and sell more electric options, with Nissan, Land Rover and Bentley looking to be manufactured and sold.

This may necessitate more punitive tariffs in-line with the EU approach of up to 45%. This could mean the end of some incredibly cheap new Chinese EVs for the UK market. It could propel our investment into manufacturing batteries and cars or vans on home soil, to be sold more globally.
However, this also means working with our EU partners in appetising cross-border selling measures to benefit all parties i.e. not just the consumers’ needs. For a brand like the VW-owned Bentley, this could be a significant impetus to go more readily into the zero-emission market.

A new world of automotive craft, the flying spurs present a new vision of luxury for the electric age. Utilising a progressive new look, inspired by Bentley’s historic and traditional design DNA, the Torcal combines enhanced connectivity along with innovations in intelligent passenger wellbeing. This is underpinned by craftsmanship, power and battery capability.
As you can see on the Bentley website the focus of the group is to create a new era and direction, with technology and road presence to be combined in order to create the aspirational car of 2026 / 2027. Some of the key highlights are the 76 hand-applied LED diamonds, ergonomic curved screens, suede-like Dinamica, Bentley Dynamic Symphony and bespoke accessories like the Carbon Fibre Styling or Paint Protection Film.
As at October 2026, the new Bentley EV will launch in two specification options, with an additional special option too:

Key colours include the Precious Metal, Desert Oasis, Purple Shade, Onyx Black, Storm Grey, Meteor Blue, Orange Flame, Dragon Red II, Glacier White and the White Sand. A host of 21” – 22” alloys in various colours can be chosen. The interior colour split can be 50/50, single tone or M1 by Mulliner and you then select your colour like Beluga, Teal, Terra, Saddle and Hotspur. Other options include the Touring Assist (for hands-free driving / cruise control), coloured brake callipers, Dynamic Light Projection, privacy glass, hands-free tailgate, Naim for Bentley sound system and the deep pile rugs.
