More success in the UK for the New and exciting Audi Q4 electric Car Lease - May 2026

As reported in the SMMT , the data for new car registrations in the UK automotive industry are in. Not unlike most months, the key talking point is how many EV registrations were achieved. As per the stats, the key takeaways for May 2026 include:

•  160,0662 new cars were registered (a 7.1% increase on last year)
•  43,931 EVs were registered (a 34.2% increase on last year)
•  In May 2026, EVs had a market share of 27.3%, compared to the 21.8% in 2025

•  220,629 EVs have been sold between Jan – May 2026 and this represents a 23.9% market share AND a 24.3% increase on 2025.

As discussed in their overview  the  SMMT  noted that the new car market in the UK is showing strong signs; the best since the global pandemic in 2020. Of particular note is the increase in electrified solutions, with the BEV market showing some incredible signs for uptake and progress, especially when you see the increase in product diversity and choice.

Over 160 BEV options, better price points and the Government’s Electric Car Grant continue to help the transition. However, this is not “mission accomplished” with the rate of EV sales still below the mandated 33% for 2026 via the ZEV political tools.

Whether or not the manufacturers and industry can sustain political intentions still remains a controversial point. This is why articles, like the  Sky News  piece are still highlighting potential pitfalls between expectation and reality. The prospect of a Governmental review still persists but as of yet, the Department for Transport are still proceeding with business as usual and are instead utilising investment and support to enable manufacturers to meet the targets rather than to change the targets themselves.

For a brand like Audi, who are bringing a revised Audi Q4 e-tron SUV and Sportback to the market, they are hoping to have a UK audience which is brimming with confidence and appetite for the battery product. While the Q4 has been popular since its original launch in 2021, the electric car market has evolved significantly, with charging times, range and battery efficiency now at standards which meets even the needs of high-mileage customers.

The Q6, a bigger SUV in the Audi range, has itself been a pinnacle of EV excellence. Therefore, the German team have elected to move the smaller SUV into the mix.

“Performance refined” the new compact SUV is being marketed by Audi as the SUV for everyone. Long or short journeys, the updated Q4 will establish better design and driver assistance comfort to help this be the premier EV in the UK leasing market.

The big changes, and collusion with the Q6, are somewhat apparent. An expanded digital stage with a curved panoramic driver display, 12.8” Audi MMI and even a passenger display (on the Vorsprung) are impressive.

Heated comfort seats for the driver and the passenger, heated steering wheel, four fresh lighting signatures, new exciting colour choices, updated alloys, bidirectional charging (for charging external devices like camping equipment or a bike), 2D-look dark grey grille, driver assistance and safety are testament to what has been created. Meticulous craft and detail are what sets EVs like this apart from our popular German brands compared to Chinese imports.

Elements like the memory function mirrors, head-up display, augmented reality navigation and remote climate control help deliver this.

•  Sport – from £46,260 for the SUV and £48,160 for the Sportback this includes keyless entry, tailgate sensor release, heated front seats, rear-view camera, front/rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, folding and dimming mirrors, 3-zone air conditioning, advanced key, 4-way lumbar support for the front seats, Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus, MMI Nav, Audi sound system, Assistance Package, Parking Package Plus, LED lights, heat insulating glass, Ambient Lighting Pack and 19” alloys;

•  S Line – from £49,300 for the SUV and £51,200 for the Sportback this includes sports suspension, privacy glass, progressive steering, pedals in stainless steel and 20” alloys; 
•  Black Edition – from £52,210 for the SUV and £54,100 for the Sportback this includes Black styling pack plus, Audi emblems and embellishment in black, sports seats in dynamic leather and 20” alloys in black; and
•  Vorsprung – from £58,960 for the SUV and £60,860 for the Sportback this includes matrix LED headlights, OLED rear lights, panoramic glass sunroof, MMI 12” passenger display, Park assist Pro, augmented HUD, SONOS premium sound, surround view camera and 21” alloys.

Key colours include the Pebble grey, Mythos black, Glacier white, Volcano Grey, Sage green and Plasma blue. You can add additional options like the Technology Pack (SONOS premium sound, ambient lighting package, augmented HUD, matrix LED lights, headlamp washer), the Comfort Pack (electrically adjustable driver seat, heated steering wheel and heated rear seats), the electric folding towbar, panoramic sunroof and the heat pump (the heat pump uses waste heat from the electric drive components as well as ambient air to warm the vehicle interior. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 6 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 160 kW DC maximum allowing 27 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 515L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 144 mpg. You can tow with this EV – 750kg (Unbraked) and 1000kg (Braked). It has Bidirectional Charging facilities – a V2L supported infrastructure is delivered via the Type exterior outlet and the interior UK Socket up to a maximum of 3.6kW.
