Our used EV leasing scheme - How old are the EV's we offer?
In another sign of investment excellence, the UK Gov announced the £1 billion scheme for a new Gigafactory in Sunderland, which is aiming to bring 1,000 jobs and provide batteries for 100,000 EVs per year.
Also reported in the BBC news, the UK’s Chancellor arrived at Sunderland to see the site which had been chosen in Washington at the International Advanced Manufacturing Park, being the 2nd in the region to complement the AESC UK one operated by Nissan. The plans for this facility received support from the Government, with the size and green-belt locality requiring the Secretary of State approval.
As set out on the www.gov.uk website, the National Wealth Fund and UK Export Finance will guarantee £680 million via an array of banks including HSBC, Societe Generale and Standard Chartered plus a further £320 million from private financing.
The Automotive Transformation Fund, a Government initiative, will also invest £150 million into the new site. The fund is supplied via the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK which is focusing on growing large-scale industrialisation of projects to help end to end automotive supply chains for electrified vehicles in the UK.
Along with the great news that the US will be slashing their export tariffs for the UK from 27.5% to 10%, the Government are suggesting that these schemes will not only save car companies hundreds of millions but will also secure highly-skilled and necessary workforces in the UK. The Government are not stopping here, with further plans to back automotive design, development and manufacturing in the zero emission market.
As we will explore, having hubs in the UK will not only attract more manufacturers to build and export from the UK but this will also bring more attractive pricing for home built vehicles / batteries in the UK. With growing technology, battery efficiency and controlled costs, this will lead to more beneficial options in the used-EV lease market, which is currently undergoing significant changes and growth.
One of the hurdles to growing this segment was initially an absence of product; mass-adoption really kicked in around 2020, so the UK has only had just over 5 years of mass-selling these all-electric options. Coincidentally as the results of the growth hit the auctions and used car market, around 2022, it became apparent that there was some nervousness and concern still present in this area.
This is more so obvious for those personal or business customers who are undertaking purchase products like cash, hire purchase and contract purchase on these assets. With leasing, a contract hire solution, there is no ownership or residual value danger. You utilise the vehicle for 12 months - 48 months and it is collected at contract cessation.
The initial thought from more sceptical customers may be that the finance company are looking to offload their less attractive and older vehicles. However, our Used Electric Car Lease Scheme , contains a useful filter for understanding the age of the vehicles in the website.
Just taking today, (14 May 2025) as an example of the 90 offers, there are 28 vehicles which are aged between 1 - 2 years old, with 2023 and 2024 registered vehicles. With recorded milometers of circa 5,000 - 15,000 miles, there is no suggestion of abuse or misuse. Our partners, Lex, are very clear about the standards the used EV should be including:
The great aspect about a used-EV is that you are able to review the actual vehicle on the website and ensure that the imperfections do not cause you any concern.
For a personal customer new to leasing an electric car or a company car / salary sacrifice scheme looking to reduce fleet costs, the pre-owned and pre-loved approach to BEVs is proving to be successful.
All EVs can be delivered in around 5 working days of the order (with a compulsory 14 day cooling-off period for regulated customers), 8.30 -5.30 delivery times on Monday-Friday and even Northern Ireland options too. While the service history cannot be shared, the good news is that all of the deals include a funder-maintenance package for complete piece of mind. This means that all PCH and BCH drivers enjoy:
As some of the slightly older vehicles can go beyond the warranty period, this maintenance package will cover all the necessary elements. With many enjoying the no-deposit / no-initial arrangement, this means zero capital outlay and an EV with all the key aspects included save for your motor insurance and vehicle charger / charging costs. To assist you with this, our EVC (Electric Vehicle Certificate) will set all of the necessary running costs and operation of the vehicle:
Since the Skoda Enyaq recently received a fresh update for 2025 / 2026, there are now earlier versions and models entering the used-EV leasing scheme for both personal and business contract hire.
This will be clear on the website, which shows you the age of the vehicle and all of the relevant imagery. With the latest model of Enyaq only just landing in May 2025, it may be at least 12 months before this facelift option finds its way onto the pre-owned scheme. But when it does, we already know it is going to be one of the most popular EVs, with the new version proving to be incredibly popular.
Indeed, we believe the Enyaq will outsell the VW ID4 / ID5, Mercedes EQA and BMW iX1. The new upgrade 2026 version of the Enyaq is bringing a fresh take on the technology, performance and the environment.
The updated Sportline 85x will feature HUD, CANTON sound system, boot net, sports suspension, area view camera, matrix LED lights, electrically operated tailgate, 20” alloys, privacy glass, electrically folding and heated door mirrors, 2-zone climate, wireless charging for your phone, heated front seats, keyless entry, dynamic steering, cornering function on the lights, front/rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, sat nav, 12” touch screen display and the Skoda Connect app.
A standard car will be around £49,440 but you can upgrade your colour to Olive Green. Moon White, Graphite Grey, Black Magic or Brilliant Silver. The other options include the winter package (heated rear seats and front windscreen), the heat pump (The heat pump generates the same interior heat without placing so much demand on electrical consumption.
This feature works best in freezing temperatures) and the electrically retractable towbar. Configure your perfect option at the Skoda manufacturer website.
In terms of the car shown, the Skoda ENYAQ ESTATE 210KW 85x Sportline Plus 82KWh 4x4 5dr Auto (Pure Electric Vehicle), this is based on the following configuration:
