The Cadillac Lyriq Luxury SUV electric car Lease is Live

Our Latest Luxury SUV electric Car Lease - The Cadillac Lyriq

The news and media have been somewhat busy documenting the electric car industry over the last few weeks, especially with the Government announcing further financial incentives and measures to ensure the uptake of BEVs continues at a satisfactory rate.

Underlying the uptake of zero-emission vehicles is a political and economic measure, the ZEV Mandate, which essentially dictates what vehicles are sold in the UK and what targets each manufacturer must hit. This is why so many manufacturers and car brands are in the news, with various opinions on the pros and cons of the legislative approach to new car sales.

This isn’t just about the cars, new or used, which are in the public domain and which are subject to discourse, the notion of vehicle charging remains another key part of the discussion. As part of the recent  UK Government  measures in July, there was a £63 million commitment to charging.

As the press release sets out, the Government have pushed a further package which has been allocated to help improve the UK’s infrastructure and make it possible for more British taxpayers to access electric vehicles. A £25 million scheme will be used to help push cross-pavement technology, which is a new technology allowing cable to run safely and securely beneath pavements direct to the kerb side.

With many of the UK residents living in terraced properties, or just those without a drive / off-street parking, the availability of home charging is somewhat diminished. While public infrastructure is improving with charge points at supermarkets, restaurants and service stations or petrol stations, the underlying cost of this experience is much higher.

This is because domestic electricity is cheaper and many companies are now offering competitive rates and deals which are making overnight charging incredibly cheap. The press release suggests that consumers can save up to £1500 per year compared to petrol or diesel vehicles. When you charge at home, with a dedicated tariff, this can lead to considerable savings compared to traditional vehicles. This is just one of the key rationales behind the transitions.

However, there are some other key improvements and upgrades required in the UK to ensure more customers can access all-electric technology with their vehicles. One of the biggest, and possible under-estimated challenges, are apartments.

With many large cities, like Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Bath and London imposing Clean Air Zones and other tariffs centred around emissions, there needs to be assistance in place to help residents move into a BEV. Big urban zones and conurbations have a higher prevalence of apartments and multi-occupant residences.

If these cannot be properly setup to charge EVs, this will present a big issue for the UK’s EV uptake. While many EV drivers living in apartments assume home charging isn’t possible, an innovative solution from our Cosmic Charging is making this absolutely achievable.

Cosmic Charging bringing charging solutions to apartment blocks and multi-tenancy buildings across the UK

Installing EV charging in apartment blocks involves more than just plugging in. Challenges around power capacity, billing residents fairly, financing infrastructure, and ensuring access to cheap, green energy can make projects feel complex. But that’s where Cosmic Charging steps in.

Cosmic Charging works directly with managing agents, freeholders, and resident associations to simplify the process. They assess the building’s energy supply, design a smart charging network, and offer financing models so upfront costs aren’t a barrier. Residents are billed individually for what they use, and the system is future-proofed for more EVs joining later. Best of all, drivers can access low-cost, renewable energy, making charging at home not just convenient, but also better financially and environmentally

To learn more or get support for your building, visit the Cosmic Charging website. As part of their simple, fair, and future-ready philosophy, the team at Cosmic have a case study to understand just how this can benefit your development.

Having began in late 2024, the Cosmic team were awarded a contract for a 319 parking bay installation in Leith (Edinburgh). Within 12 weeks this apartment block was completely overhauled and now every space is EV ready; the resident simply needs to get in touch to organise the installation of the charge point / commencement of the charging tariff. With plans to take on many more, we could see even more individuals, and business customers joining the new and used EV revolution.
