The Skoda Elroq Electric Car Lease - The Definitive Guide
When the Government suggest that they want the British population 80% electric by 2030 or 100% electric by 2035, there is an almost sudden and overwhelming snap inside many drivers, that this is an unachievable aim and ambition.
An element of this can be attributed to the growing market which, until the last year or two, had a much restricted choice of vehicle options compared to like for like petrol and diesel models. The consumer / retail market in the UK really does like choice when it comes to cars.
While the last 10 years have seen the SUV become the dominate type of vehicle (small, medium and large), the presence of other types like small hatchbacks, estates and convertibles are nevertheless important.
As the SMMT reported on this week (May 2025), their 45th annual Test Day has proved instrumental for helping the press and media to truly understand the depth of choice and options which customers now have at present day . Of the vehicles on show, 2 in 5 were zero-emission and averaged a 300 mile range (WLTP). This is some progress for such an influential automotive trade body, which produces key statistics and metrics on the volume of vehicles sold in the UK.
As the SMMT discuss, the BEV now constitutes around 20% of the new cars sold in the UK as at April 2025. While this is falling short of the 28% mandated by the Government, this still represents a significant uptake in what many thought would have been achievable.
With around 130 new electric models now on sale, there is a positive trend of increasing diversity and choice for the British public. Indeed, the article goes on to suggest that even more could be achieved if the VAT on new EVs was halved; up to 2 million BEVs could be on the road by 2028.
It also talks about the recent disincentives like the VED expensive car supplement and VAT on public charging which are not sending the correct messages to customers. So while choice is key, there are clearly other factors at play which is influencing the take-up of battery vehicles.
One manufacturer which is looking to provide more choice to their customer database is the Skoda brand. Renowned for their Enyaq SUV, a direct competitor to the Audi Q4, VW ID5, Nissan Ariya and Mercedes EQA, this mid-sized EV crossover has been wowing the leasing market for 3 - 4 years.
But to add more affordable options, the new Elroq was introduced earlier in 2025 with a smaller footprint but similar striking shape and look to its sister Enyaq. A “new era for Skoda” the Elroq is a modern solid design with the functional and minimal undertones which make Skoda what it is.
Constructed with recycled and environmentally sound materials, the brand are trying to add more weight to the sustainability challenges we all now face. With leading technology, apps and design, the Elroq will not be a disappointing addition to your fleet, salary sacrifice scheme or as your replacement new car.
As at 2024 the group have confirmed:
Some of the key options to add to your new Elroq include the Advanced Package (area view, HUD, CANTON sound, Matrix LED lights, folding mirrors with heating and memory function), Winter Package (heated front/rear seats, 2-zone climate and heated windscreen).
The heat pump (generates the same interior heat without placing so much demand on electrical consumption) and the towbar. The key colours include Energy blue, Timiano Green, Meteor Grey, Black Magic, Moon White and Brilliant Silver. Build your perfect Elroq on the Skoda manufacturer website.
