The Skoda Enyaq Electric Car Lease popularity continues to raise

but when should I, or our business fleet, order one?
The Skoda Enyaq Electric Car Lease popularity continues to raise

The Car Lease popularity that continues to raise - The Skoda Enyaq Electric

The year 2026 will see the UK target for pure electric vehicles change from 26% to 33% further to the Government’s ZEV Mandate . While there is some stern debate on the efficacy and affordability of this political direction, the reality is that a robust percentage of cars, and vans, will have to be some form of battery electric by 2030 / 2035.

What that means is that all manufacturers looking to sell their vehicles in the UK’s new car market will have to adhere to these requirements in full, or in part. Failing to do so will lead to some form of financial penalty, with rumours of £15,000 per non-compliant registration being applied.

However, the consequences and failure of meeting the ZEV Mandate have not been well publicised by any manufacturer yet, so this does make us question to what extent this is being applied. If we are to get manufacturing investment into the UK, cars / vans / batteries, our attitudes towards businesses need to be somewhat harmonious to retain their support.

Homegrown manufacturing of both the cars and the lithium batteries helps improve the lead times and turnaround of the vehicles which brokers like e-car lease supply.

So before we touch on the Enyaq EV, the question of WHEN should I order my lease car (personal or business) is a relevant one to answer. To answer this briefly, as a customer you need to begin with the understanding of when exactly you need a vehicle; are you replacing an existing lease? do you have a PCP or HP coming to an end?

Are you without a car and need one urgently? One of the first questions any leasing broker will ask you, or the business, is when do you need a car for? This isn’t a sales ploy or an unnecessary question, as we really need to know that any potential deals we offer can be delivered within your time frames. As per below:

  •  Stock Lease Deals - these are vehicles which are at the dealership, UK port or even the EU port. As such, the stock vehicle is one which is generally available within 2 - 3 weeks of you placing an order (after credit application has been approved). With a personal customer because of distance selling regulations, there is a 2 week cooling-off period which needs to be adhered to in most cases. This means that at least 2 weeks must pass before the goods can be delivered to you. For a business, which is referred to as non-regulated, no such restriction exists. For cases of an emergency delivery i.e. I need this car as soon as humanely possible, you need to direct your attention to a car sitting at a dealership that can facilitate the turnaround. Do remember that as we deliver vehicles to you, it is often a 3 - 5 day process to arrange this. Where a Stock deal is often less appropriate, is where a customer needs a car in 2 - 6 months time. As most deals in our industry are registered, the finance companies or dealerships cannot have them sat in a compound without being paid for. Many stock EV deals will ask for a 2 - 4 week delivery;

  •  Allocation Deals  - these are vehicles which sit between the stock and factory order deal. The vehicles are either due to go into built OR are in the process of being built. The time it takes to process and deliver this EV will rely on where the vehicle is constructed and built. Further to the above, vehicles being built in the UK are available much quicker than those being built in the Americas or China. For the former, this could be a 4 - 8 week time compared to the latter which can be over 12 weeks in just shipping time alone. These types of deals are becoming more popular, as they allow a leasing broker to pre-sell the vehicles before they land in the UK and these are great for customers who are either flexible with an existing car they are looking to sell or who have a vehicle which is due off lease in 2 - 4 months time. As they have an allocated build slot, there is a certainty of a vehicle arriving, generally without much delay, but this provides you with more time to organise the collection / return of the existing EV. This is especially useful for a fleet which is planning a change of fleet vehicles and needs a degree of time to logistic this; and
  •  Factory Order Deals  - these are EVs which are built to your exact specification. More commonly used for the luxury and performance options, like the Mercedes G Class / Rolls Royce Spectre / Porsche Cayenne, these allow the customer to create the perfect motoring solution. As per above, the vehicles being built in the UK are delivered much quicker than those overseas. Depending on the manufacturer, a factory order could take 2 - 4 months but in some cases over 6 months. This is not a proposition which is suitable for any customer who is in a hurry or who needs a specific date being adhered to. Since we have little to no control over the build times, this can cause friction in the event of a delay.

With the Skoda Enyaq, there are often a great mix of stock deals (like our Sport line one) -  as well as allocation and factory order ones too. The new vRS model is undoubtedly a vehicle where performance meets bold design, with Skoda creating their most powerful EV to date.
