The BYD ATTO 2 Electric Car Lease-Your Definitive Guide
The media can be a swathe of good news. Especially recently, now that we have some more considered momentum for the installation of charging infrastructure. Last week we referred to the various stories about the Midlands receiving grants to ensure that the local constituencies were provided with sufficient resources to ensure that grassroots charging is improved.
In particular, there is a focus on improving facilities for those drivers who do not have the ability to charge at home because they do not have a drive or they live in a flat / tenanted premises.
Only yesterday (9 March 2025) the BBC reported on further funding initiatives for Northamptonshire Council, with £2.8m of Government funding to help more residents (without off-street charging) fuel their EVs. In particular, the council are trying to help more drivers access lower costs when utilising battery technology. However, the same cannot be said of every news article and publication in the UK.
According to a joint effort by the AA / Sky News there are still some UK drivers who feel confused about the transition towards a zero-emission economy. In a comprehensive survey of 14,000 members, there were some interesting facts including:
The article, which focuses on the report, does ask whether enough is being done by the Government to encourage an increase in the demand. In addition, there are submissions about the complexities of EVs, consumers being supplied with “the right information” on an electric and the costs surrounding EV ownership or usership.
The reality is that some of the critiques of our EV industry are founded. While charging facilities are now being addressed quite rapidly, the concerns about “range” on modern EVs have been overcome and a stronger used-EV programme now underway, the certification and standardisation of the sales process has not occurred. To some degree, car dealerships, leasing brokers and used-EV retailers will operate as they see fit.
The team at e-car have been doing things a little differently for nearly 5 years now. Working with some key data partners, we created an EVC™ to detail the key facets of using a BEV. But there isn’t just us, with newer companies like ClearWatt also looking to break down the elements of a used EV in a not so dissimilar fashion.
However, many out there have not yet been more specific with their approach, relying on manufacturer websites and generic data providers to help provide a positive experience. To be direct, this does not work and only leads to the confusion which the article above refers to. In simple terms, every personal and business leasing customer needs to consider:
If the UK is to achieve the ambitions of the ZEV Mandate, then facts and simplification are a fundamental component.
One manufacturer looking to continue their success in the UK is the BYD brand. The Chinese manufacturer has been pushing a number of their all-electric options like the ATTO 3, Dolphin, Seal and the Sealion 7.
However, the automotive group are bringing another dost-effective vehicle to the market with the “compact electric SUV with a striking exterior”. The key aspects include the sharp LED lights, continuous tail lights, vegan leather, smart rotatable screen, navigation, electric multifunction seats with heating, panoramic roof, smart storage for luggage, the BYD e-Platform 3.0 for optimised interior space, advanced driving systems and the high-efficiency heat pump.
With the Intelligent Cockpit for full mobile to car integration plus the NFC keyless entry, don’t expect this vehicle to be lacking on technology. However, with V2L bidirectional faculties, cell to body technology blade batterie and the 8 in 1 electric powertrain, the actual functionality of the EV is aiming to set standards.
