The Jeep Compass electric Car Lease - Your Definitive Guide
The latest EV to launch from the Jeep group is joining the UK’s electric car market at a very interesting time period. Only last week (15 July 2025) the UK Government made a surprise announcement to say that the Electric Car Grant (ECG) would be making an immediate return to the UK’s new car market.
To be candid, even the experts at e-car were surprised this decision was made with new zero-emission vehicles based on them performing almost in-line with the obligations of the ZEV Mandate, which is the legal / political requirement on every manufacturer operating in the UK. Grants are, to be honest, probably not the most useful tool to have at the moment.
We have more pressing concerns, in particular the used-EV market (0% interest rate options), public charging network for rapid DC and quicker AC solutions, charging solutions for those without driveways (apartments or terraced houses) and education and information (like the EVC from e-car or the ClearWatt technology).
Encouraging slightly more people in the new car industry is really only so beneficial, especially when the grants could serve to devalue the used EVs already in circulation if new cars are about to drop in price to the tune of £1500 - £3750. It’s not to say that it is a bad / negative suggestion, only that there are other aspects of the market which could be reviewed or improved.
The Government have now provided some clarification on how the ECG will work for the car manufacturers on their website. In summary there are some key considerations to review including:
So what this means is that the ECG will not just be given out to any electric car in the UK and manufacturers will have to supply evidence on this as soon as possible. While this means some brands may take time to confirm exactly which models will benefit from this new EV grant, some are already using it as a catalyst to push sales.
The LeapMotors Group, who make the C10 and the T03 have created their own ECG campaign by subsidising their own vehicles by £3750. Since this is a Chinese brand, which will not qualify for the grant on some of the criteria, the team have hit the headlines over the July weekend saying “Why wait for the government? Leapmotor UK is giving drivers an instant head start with our very own electric car grant – and it’s available now.”
The Jeep team, now backed by the Stellantis group, may be looking to benefit from the ECG on their new Compass Electric SUV if they can meet the new criteria. The Jeep brand have already entered into BEV technology with their small Avenger option.
The bigger Compass will look to take on the likes of the Skoda Enyaq, Peugeot e-3008, VW ID4 and the Xpeng G6. Robust and notoriously Jeep, the “distinguishing features” are the standout 100% Jeep DNA and design, the Selec-terrain system for 360 degree protection anywhere you go, the Level 2 Autonomous driving and the functional range and charging times. Iconic and rugged in shape, mixed with off-road capability and a conveniently big interior / space allocation, the Compass is set to wow the UK’s personal and business leasing market.
The Compass EV will launch in the First Edition model later in 2025. This means specification like - 20” alloys, LED Matrix lights, power-folding mirrors, privacy glass, 10” cluster and 16” central display, navigation, wireless charger, wireless Apple Carplay, hands-free liftgate, air conditioning, heated seats, heated steering wheel, level 2 autonomous driving, adaptive cruise, front/rear parking sensors, rear view camera, windshield de-icer function and a robust security alarm.
Colours include the Hawaii (Green), Pacific (Blue), Antarctica (white), Amazonia (Brown) and Vulcano (Black). With a 1.7m height, 4.55m length and 1.9m width, the 550L boot capacity is very much the perfect all-electric family car. For more information, head to the Jeep manufacturer website.
