The new Skoda Enyaq VRS Electric Car Lease - Your Definitive Guide
The battleground for electric car manufacturers is certainly a moving target. Before we touch on the evolution of the VW Group’s iconic Skoda brand, it is probably worth just highlighting some significant changes in the UK and Europe, as new EVs begin to take the market by storm.
One of the big headlines hitting the UK press this week, including this piece in the FT , is the incoming BYD influence on what cars are sold and leased by personal and business customers.
The BYD, or Build Your Dreams, group are bringing new cars to the UK with an almost reckless abandonment; the Dolphin, Atto 3, Atto 2, Dolphin Surf, Seal and Seal 7 are all readily available or incoming battery options for 2025 and beyond. One of China’s most influential battery producers and automotive makers are now using the UK and Europe to offer their cost-effective and pragmatic vehicles.
As noted in the FT, the BYD group outsold Tesla with 7,231 pure EVs registered compared to the 7,165 for Tesla. With Tesla experiencing increasing downturn, a potential by-product of the new Elon Musk era, the BYD team are enjoying a conversely better time with increasing registrations. Add to that an investment into plug-in hybrid technology, like the Seal U DM-I, which are going to be allowable under the new ZEV Mandate rules, and you have an enjoyable landscape for the BYD team.
The UK is going to be a key market for any brand establishing its significance in Europe. As the SMMT data provides there are a healthy number of all-electric cars now traversing the UK roads.
In April 2025, we saw 24,588 BEV registrations, which is some 8% higher than 2024. In terms of monthly market share, the all-electric cars now represent around 20% of the market (someway below the ZEV Mandate threshold but nevertheless significant).
Within 4 months, nearly 150,000 new BEV cars have been registered in the UK. So there is a financial rationale behind success in the UK for any brand, looking to bring their innovations to our market. However, BYD will not necessarily dominate here, especially when tried and tested automotive groups are starting to enjoy more success. One of these, Skoda, is now establishing itself as one of the premier SUV battery producers to choose.
While the Elroq, a small SUV, is the most recent new release from team Skoda, it is their overhaul of the Enyaq which is also noteworthy. Originally announced in September 2020 before starting production in November 2020, the Enyaq iV was delivered throughout Europe around mid-2021.
An alternative to the VW ID4, MG ZS and the Tesla Model Y, the diverse and cost-effective Enyaq proved incredibly popular. So much so, the group invested in a range of battery and motor configurations, including their renowned vRS specification from the combustion model line-up. T
he AWD performance model was an instant hit. So, when the Enyaq received its latest update, it is no surprise that the vRS, a car where “exceptional performance meets bold design”, also enjoyed some improvements too. From 12 June 2025, UK customers can officially order their electrified vRS via the Skoda website, with the standard model beginning at £51,660 for the estate and £53,560 for the Coupe version.
Available in the traditional estate SUV format, as well as the Coupe crossover, the vRS will continue the racing spirit with the sport design like the black exterior accents, vRS badge on the wings, the 20 or 21” alloys and dynamic solid lines.
Technology will not be absent, with a number of highlighted features such as the travel assist, easy parking, safety asset and LED lights all clearly highlighted within the vehicle brochure. Some of the key features, which are listed below, include the CANTON sound system, keyless entry, head-up display, sustainable umbrella in the driver’s door, storage box for rear passengers, electric front seats, 4 fast-charging USB ports and the flexible boot. While additional options are available, the vRS is well-specified as standard, allowing an enjoyable fusion of practicality with performance.
Whether you want to build your own estate or coupe on the Enyaq you will notice a whole list of great features like the 20” Draconis alloys, the vRS suite interior, remote trained and park assist, dynamic chassis control, LED rear lights, LED Matrix lights, privacy and acoustic glass, electrically-operated heated and folding door mirrors, electrically operated
tailgate sports bumpers, LED ambient lighting, wireless charging, 3-zone climate, aluminium pedals, heated front seats, heat-insulating glass, keyless entry and exit, travel assist plus (emergency assist, lane assist plus and urban evasive steering), power-adjustable lumbar support, electrically adjustable drive and passenger seat with memory, area view camera, Skoda connect, navigation, HUD and the 12” touchscreen display.
Choose from colours like the Hyper Green, Meteor Grey, Moon White, Graphite Grey, Race Blue and Velvet Red. While standard with 20” alloys, you can upgrade to the 21” Vision alloys for the full look. Key packages include the Winter Package (for the heated windscreen and rear seats), Heat Pump, electrically retractable tow bar and the panoramic sunroof.
