Leasing a BYD Dolphin Surf in the UK

The UK is enjoying the BYD brand with such enthusiasm that the car maker is now swooping award after award. It was even the winner of “Most Loved Brand” at the Autotrader’s 2025 car awards. For a group which has only been supplying EVs for a short space of time in Britain this is an amazing achievement.

However, their latest innovation, the Dolphin Surf, is a compact electric car which is hoping to become the equivalent of the Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa or VW Polo. Essentially a true car of the people in terms of popularity and affordability.

Fun and frivolous, the hatchback is a small city-car but with a spacious and considered interior, surprising performance and technologically profound vehicle. Some of the key features include the floating roof effect, LED taillights and six-angle light strips daytime running lights. Inside, the 10.1 inch display is utilised to provide a robust driver display and vehicle integration with all of the relevant features.

Safety is not amiss with the Advance Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) offering intelligent cruise control, emergency braking, lane-departure assist and automatic lights. As the vehicle uses a dedicated architecture, the e-platform 3.0, the super-safe blade batteries not only offer piece of mind on reliability but for the performance and range too.

So, what specifications and options are available in the new Dolphin Surf?

As at June 2025, you can configure your new Dolphin Surf with the following options below:

With prices starting around £18,000 - £24,000, the new BYD Surf is hitting the affordable car market, which has perhaps been ignored compared to some of the other segments. While bigger SUVs and saloons are popular with many fleet and salary sacrifice schemes, it’s important not to forget the smaller SME budgets and the retail / consumer market. As we push through 2025, it would be fair to say that financial due diligence is still on the agenda.

But not unlike any EV, the move into batteries can bring with it some additional thought and considerations. When you go-green you do make a positive environmental choice, especially with air pollution now high on the political agenda.

To assist you, or the fleet manager, make this move make sure you utilise our “living with your ...” tools and EVC™ certificates. These resources explain the fundamental aspects and key metrics like real-world range, charging times (AC and DC), charging costs, charge solutions, performance and towing capacity along with charging tariffs, motor insurance and bidirectional charging.
