The Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. (ZGH) or “Geely” is a hidden giant of the UK’s electric car economy. Siting behind brands like Lotus, Polestar, Volvo and Zeekr, until the EX SUV was launched, very few British people were that aware of who and what this brand did. But 2026 is proving to be a breakout year for Geely, as they bring their 2nd product to the UK market in the form of the EX2 (available from August 2026). 

The new EX2 is the latest product from Geely and is an all-electric hatchback which refuses to feel small. Another option to their EX5 SUV, this electric hatchback is a city car, with technology, comprehensive safety, 36 storage spaces and a substantial frunk (front trunk).

Crafted in a perfect ratio, the design highlights include the feather headlights, semi-concealed door handles, 16” alloys, 70L frunk, 10L passenger drawer, 20L centre console, 28L rear storage and the 375L boot. In addition to storage, the safety features are something to admire with the ADAS providing some four layers of active protection. Key aspects include the adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.

The Geely group are supportive of their own product with an 8 year (or 125,000 mile) vehicle warranty, 8 year (or 125,000 mile) battery warranty, 4 year of roadside assistance and 2-year free 4G data plan.

Key colours include the green, white, black, red, blue and silver. There is just one black interior choice available.

But how will the new Geely EX2 electric perform?

There will be two battery configurations to choose from including:

•  35kWh - this RWD compact city car will have a 35.4 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 14.2 seconds, 81 mph top speeds and 60kW (or 80hp). Expect a combined winter range of 110 miles with warmer weather allowing for 150  miles – a 130 mile combined. On charging, the 6.6kW AC max will allow 6 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 60 kW DC maximum allowing 35 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 375L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 149 mpg. You cannot tow with this EV. It has Bidirectional Charging – a 3.6kW AC option via . There is no heat pump; and
•  47kWh - this RWD compact city car will have a 47.1 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 11.5 seconds, 81 mph top speeds and 85kW (or 114hp). Expect a combined winter range of 145 miles with warmer weather allowing for 200 miles – a 175 mile combined. On charging, the 6.6kW AC max will allow 8 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 80 kW DC maximum allowing 35 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 375L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 150 mpg. You cannot tow with this EV. It has Bidirectional Charging – a 3.6kW AC option via . There is no heat pump.
