Leasing the new Geely EX5 in the UK

The Geely brand might not be immediately obvious to many of our UK leasing customers, as this group has operated more in the background as investors, collaborators and engineers. With successful products like Volvo, Polestar and Lotus already on sale in the UK, the move into manufacturing their own solutions is not an altogether surprising move. The new EX5 – “Electric Done Right” – is the brand's first entrant to our automotive market.

The EX5 is a mid-size SUV which arrives on UK shores in October 2025. Very much an alternative to the MGS5, VW ID4 or Skoda Enyaq, the group are aiming to hit the most-popular segment of the car market. With a unique background in sports and luxury cars, the expectation is that this more cost-effective and affordable proposition will help Geely be a more recognisable brand.

The EX5 comes packed with smart technology, luxury and responsive systems. Some of the key aspects include the ADAS safety system, LED headlights, sleek front profile, panoramic roof and low-drag alloys.

What options can you get in the Geely EX5?

•  SE – this includes V2L and V2V Bidirectional charging, 18” alloys, auto hold, LED lights, follow me home lights, roof rack, privacy glass, power folding and heated door mirrors, heated steering wheel, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, heat pump, air conditioning, remote heating and ventilation, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, lane change assistant, keyless entry, 15.4” HD touch-screen, 10” driver display, navigation, 6-speaker audio, wireless charging, hill start and descent control, rear parking and 360 degree camera;      

• Pro - this adds 19” alloys; and 

•  Max - this adds the panoramic power sunroof, power tailgate, heated front seats, ventilated seats, HUD and 16-speaker Premium Audio.  

The Geely arrives with a 6 + 2 Year warranty, which means you get 8 years of vehicle on the car (or 125,000 miles) with the same on the battery, 1 year roadside assistance and 2 years data package.

Key colours include Grey, White, Silver, Green and Black.

How does the new Geely EX5 perform?

• EX5 - this FWD SUV will have a 60.2 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 6.2 seconds, 109 mph top speeds and 160kW (or 215hp). Expect a combined winter range of 170 miles with warmer weather allowing for 230 miles – a 205 mile combined. On charging, the 11kW AC max will allow 6 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 160 kW DC maximum allowing 28 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 461L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 138 mpg. You cannot tow with this vehicle. The new Geely EX has Bidirectional Charging - a V2L exterior type 2 outlet. The Heat Pump is available as a standard option.
