Genesis Motors, who are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the South Korean Hyundai group, have been a little quiet in the UK’s electric market recently. With no real announcements in 2026, you may assume that the brand was making a decision to do a quiet exit from Britain.

However, in July 2026 a surprise announcement was made; a new high-performance luxury electric crossover would be launched by Genesis and this would bring some blistering performance to the leasing market.

“Disruptive by nature” the new sports performance derivative of the GV60 is aiming to bring excitement, thrills and athletic luxury to the UK leasing market. Described as the Magma for its primal energy, the new GV60 brings a strong alternative to the rugged Hyundai Ioniq 5N. Primal, with athletic luxury, this distinctive EV is adding a fresh excitement with aggression, performance technology and the best proactive safety systems money can buy.

How will the new Genesis GV60 Magma electric perform?

There will be just one battery configuration to choose from including:

•  Magma -  this AWD SUV will have a 80 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 3.4 seconds, 164 mph top speeds and 448kW (or 601hp). Expect a combined winter range of 200 miles with warmer weather allowing for 265 miles – a 235 mile combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour and 45 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 264 kW DC maximum allowing 17 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 540L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 119 mpg. You can tow with this EV – 750kg (Unbraked) and 2400kg (Braked). It has Bidirectional Charging - V2L capabilities via the Type 2 adapter and an interior UK socket. The heat pump is included as standard.
