Leasing a Hyundai Ioniq 9  Electric in the UK

The electric car market is now seeing a whole host of luxury 7-seat options for UK families to enjoy. Historically, there was an obvious shortage of vehicles available to replace cars like the Nissan X-Trail, Kia Sedona and Peugeot 5008.

Many manufacturers seemed more content in pushing hatchback, saloon and SUV options which did not accommodate this crucial segment. Fast forward to 2025 and we now have a very different landscape, with the Mercedes EQB, Volvo EX90, Kia EV9 and now the brand-new Hyundai Ioniq 9 pushing for supremacy in the 7-seat electric car segment.

“Built to belong” the new luxury EV from the South-Korean manufacturer is very much looking to add comfort, sensibility and futurism to the UK market. With 3 rows, and a variety of seating configurations, this large vehicle can be adapted to suit the lifestyle of most personal and business leasing customers.

For example, the 1st row can fully recline, and the optional leg rest can allow optimum comfort. In the 2nd row, the swivelling seats means that you can create a face-to-face rear with a “lounge” approach. Plus, with the seats down, an almost market-leading 1,323 litres of cargo space translates to practicability and functionality.

So, what specifications and options are available in the new Ioniq 9 7-seater?

What we know is that Hyundai will be launching a number of options including:

  •  Premium;
  •  Ultimate; and
  •  Calligraphy

The top of line Calligraphy will include - 21” alloys, LED daytime running lights, LED interior lights, heated and folding door mirrors, flush handles, 8-way powered driver and passenger seats, power lumbar support, heated and ventilated seats, memory seats, 2nd row power captain’s chairs including the leg rest, ventilated and heated 2nd row seats, navigation.

Bose Premium Audio, wireless CarPlay, rear view monitor, wireless charging, cargo sill plates, suede roof, heat pump, heated steering wheel, head up display, smart cruise control, high beam assist, front centre armrest, V2L, full display mirror, ambient lighting, digital key 2 premium, parking collision avoidance, smart cruise, forward attention warning and safe exit assist.

How does the Ioniq 9 perform?

There will be 3 battery options for UK customers including:

  •  Long Range RWD - from £61,000 this has a usable battery of 106 kWh which offers 160 kW (215hp), top speeds of 90 mph and 0 - 62 times of 9.4 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 260 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 345 miles (on a full charge) - combined overall at 305 miles. The 11kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 11 hour and 30 mins with the 250 kW DC enabling 10-80% in 24 minutes. It has a 116 mpg equivalent, 620L cargo volume and towing capacity of 2500kg (Braked) and 750kg (Unbraked). There is a heat pump on this EV. Bidirectional charging has been confirmed, in the form of a 3.6kW AC exterior and interior socket;
  •  Long Range AWD - from £65,000 this has a usable battery of 106 kWh which offers 230 kW (308hp), top speeds of 90 mph and 0 - 62 times of 6.7 seconds. With prices hovering around the £60,000 - £70,000 mark, this is not what we would call a “cheap” lease deal. This option will be more adept to a consumer with a healthy budget or more likely for company car / salary sacrifice scheme where the tax advantages do soften the finance obligations on the vehicle.

For bigger families, or for companies with people carrying requirements, having a well-priced but nevertheless robust EV, is quite a consideration.

Before you commit to any form of leasing or purchasing, we do encourage that you properly research this new car. Most funding products involve a form of temporary or permanent commitment over 2, 3 or 4 years, so suitability is paramount.

Our “living with your ...” tools and EVC™ certificates set out the fundamental aspects and data on the vehicle. This includes the key metrics such as real-world range, charging times (AC and DC), charging costs, charge solutions, performance, towing capacity. Additionally, aspects like charging tariffs, motor insurance and bidirectional charging feature too.
