Leasing a Kia EV5 SUV in the UK

The “all-electric family car” launches in July 2025, as Kia look to swell the UK’s EV market with not just one but three new options. The PV5, a new electric van and 7-seat people carrier, is joined by the EV4, a smaller SUV hatchback and fastback model. In an era where much focus has been placed on the American and Chinese markets, the South-Korean powerhouse may have been underestimated as it looks to bring a BEV into every segment. The group are also now releasing their EV5.

With key features including extensive interior space, advanced technology and competitive electric range, the EV5 is very much an alternative to the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, VW ID4 and the Mercedes EQA. The exterior is very much the striking and robust SUV / 4x4 which UK customers really enjoy.

The cutting-edge finish and sharp lines really do make this angular vehicle stand out. A signature silhouette front is supported by LED headlights with adaptive driving beam. The sides and back are focused on being aerodynamic, including the wheel covers and spoiler.

Inside the EV5, the Kia team have left nothing to the imagination. The 566L of storage makes this one of the best for boot-carrying capacity, especially with an adjustable boot floor. Or fold the rear seats flat to enjoy 1,650L of space. This is very much family-centred with the ergonomics.

A smart centre console for front passengers means a dual cup holder, storage tray, underneath storage and the wireless charging pad. But even passengers in the rear can enjoy the sliding tray with a rear air conditioning control pad (GT Line and above only).

What specifications and options are available with the latest EV5 SUV from Kia?

As at July 2025, you can configure your new all-electric  Kia  on the website  with the following options below:

•  Air – this includes 18” alloys, privacy glass, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors with LED lights, LED daytime running lights, cloth upholstery, heated steering wheel, air conditioning, 12.3” driver and navigation screen, 5.3” climate control screen, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, hill-start control, safe exit warning, forward-collision avoidance, lane keep assist, smart cruise control, driver attention warning, Thatcham Cat 2 alarm and the smart key with motion sensor;       

•  GT Line – this adds 19” alloys, GT styling, folding door mirrors, automatic flush door handles, solar glass windscreen, adaptive driving beam, black side sills, heated rear seats, electric front seats, memory front seats, 3-spoke GT steering wheel, smart tailgate, customisable ambient lighting and wireless phone charger; and
•  GT Line S – this adds tilting and sliding sunroof, premium relaxation seats, HUD, Harmon Kardon sound system, digital key, fingerprint recognition, parking collision assist, remote smart parking assist, blind spot view monitor, heat pump (optional).

How does the EV5 family-car perform?

There will be just one battery option for UK customers:

•  81.4 kWh - FWD has a usable battery of 78kWh which offers 160kW (214hp), top speeds of 106mph and 0-62 times of 8.4 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 245 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 340 miles (on a full charge) – 295 miles combined . The 11kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 8 hours and 30 mins with the 150 kW DC enabling 10-80% in 30 minutes. The EV has Bidirectional capability - the V2L will offer 1 exterior port and one interior UK socket port. It has a 153 mpg equivalent, 435L cargo volume and towing capacity is to be confirmed. The Heat Pump will be available as an additional option.
