Leasing a Kia PV5 in the UK

The Kia brand is one you will be hearing a lot about in the second half of 2025. The South-Korean car maker are bringing plenty of new, and revised, all-electric cars and vans to the market, as they look to push back against the Chinese and European competition which have been so busy in the world of battery vehicles. The latest innovation to launch in the UK’s leading market is a truly interesting one – the Kia PV5.

The “PBV” will be a multi-use option which will effectively see a number of products launched including:

  • The PV5 Cargo – a commercial vehicle, aimed for business requiring an LCV;
  • The PV5 Passenger – a multi-seat passenger option for those businesses needing people-carrying facilities or for bigger families (5 and 7 seat versions);
  • The PV5 Crew Van – a commercial vehicle, aimed for business requiring an LCV but with multiple passenger carrying abilities;
  •  The PV5 Chassis Cab – a commercial vehicle but with a configurable chassis so you can convert this into your own bespoke vehicle; and
  •  The PV5 WAV – a wheelchair accessible vehicle aimed for the Motability market.

The e-car lease website will primarily focus on the Passenger model, which is effectively an alternative to the massively popular VW ID. Buzz. The UK leasing market, including personal, business and salary sacrifice segments, do need pragmatic yet affordable people-carrying solutions. In particular, there is a growing demand for 7-seat options, which are still fairly limited in the zero-emission sector. Many of the bigger vehicles which can be bought / leased are larger and more luxury.

The Passenger will launch in two battery formats including:

  •  The Standard Range – 51.5kWh battery with 90kW and which is available in the Essential trim. The vehicle will have 11kW AC and 150kW DC charging capabilities. The max speed is 84mph and this will achieve 0 – 62 in 12.8 seconds. WLTP range is 183 miles. This option can tow 450kg (Braked). With all seats folded this EV has a 2,300L storage capacity; and
  • The Long Range – 71.2kWh battery with 120kW and which is available in the Essential and Plus trim. The vehicle will have 11kW AC and 150kW DC charging capabilities. The max speed is 84mph and this will achieve 0 – 62 in 10.7 seconds. WLTP range is 256 miles. This option can tow 750kg (Braked). With all seats folded this EV has a 2,300L storage capacity.

The PV5 Passenger will include two main trims including:

  •  Essential – this includes 16” steel wheels, tinted rear glass, LED headlights, electrically adjustable mirrors, body coloured bumpers, rain sensing wipers, air conditioning, stop/start button, smart entry system, dual sliding doors (manual), 12.9” touchscreen, navigation, 7.5” driver display, OTA functionality, front/rear parking sensors, reversing camera, forward collision avoidance, smart cruise control, intelligent speed limit assist, lane following assist, smart key and Thatcham Category 1 alarm; and
  • Plus – this adds 16” alloys, electric folding mirrors, heated front seats, driver and passenger lumbar support, heated steering wheel, power tailgate, V2L functionality, wireless phone charger, rear cross traffic alert, safe exit warning and the optional heat pump.

In terms of colours choose between white pearl, midnight black, cityscape green, mint green, steel grey, lakehouse grey and frost blue.

The Cargo, which is the commercial vehicle, will also be a truly great addition to the market too. With the like of the ID.Buzz Cargo, Transit e-custom and all-electric VW Transporter in circulation, the market is very much growing for van and fleet operators.

However, while these various Kia EVs are truly amazing innovations, this doesn’t mean that due diligence and synthesis shouldn’t take place. When you are adding a vehicle to your business fleet or swapping your personal car, it’s important to use the right information when it comes to a BEV.

With the e-car experts you having our “living with your ...” tools and EVC™ certificates available to help make this a safe and secure transaction. Key facets like real-world range, charging times (AC and DC), charging costs, charge solutions, performance, towing capacity, charging tariffs, motor insurance and bidirectional charging are set out for you or the fleet manager.
