Leasing a Renault Megane E-tech in the UK

Back when the e-car lease team first discussed the all-electric Megane from Renault in 2022, this was the group’s first big push into electrification after their Zoe city-car. Quite weirdly, the Renault were pioneers in the UK’s electric car economy but never really evolved from their original creations. However, this was soon addressed with the Megane, Scenic, Renault 5, Renault 4 and Twingo EV within a space of just 4 years!

Four years later, the team over at Renault are addressing the Megane E-Tech again with a comprehensive overhaul of the battery technology and a sanitation of the vehicle specification / choices. The big news with the 2026 / 2027 Megane BEV is that it will receive the Band 1 £3,750 UK Zero Emission Vehicle Grant. For personal and business leasing customers this translates to some competitive deals

Will the Megane battery choice make it a practical EV?

As you can read below, the vehicle will perform as per:

•  Megane E-Tech – this FWD hatchback will have a 67kWh lithium battery which will offer 160 kW (or 215hp), 0 – 62 times of 7.6 seconds and 99mph top speeds. Expect a combined winter range of 215 miles with warmer weather allowing for 300 miles – a combined 260 miles. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 7 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 165 kW DC maximum allowing 27 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 440L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 157mpg. This EV will have Bidirectional charging – V2L via the Type 2 exterior adapter offering 3.7kW AC, as well as V2H and V2G too. The car will be able to tow 750kg (Unbraked) and 900kg (Braked). The heat pump is standard.

The new Megane is available to review on the Renault manufacturer website . Described as the electric car for petrol heads, this will feature bolder design, better performance and a more agile chassis delivery system. Compact, but with dynamic styling, the new Megane is much sharper and distinctive than the previous model, bringing this in line with the Renault motorsport branding. With the enhanced multimedia openR Link system the driver’s in-house experience is about to get better.

You can configure your own version on the  Renault  configurator with two key options at present:     

• Techno – from £28,245 this includes LED lights, auto-tilting and folding wing mirrors, 12.3” driver display, openR link media system, Arkamys audio, wireless charging phone system, 19” alloys, 360 degree camera, emergency lane keep assist, rear emergency braking, hill start assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, vehicle sound for pedestrians, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, keyless entry, heat pump and heated front windows; and
•  Espirit Alpine – from £31,245 this adds 20” alloys, active driver assist, black wing mirrors, Harman Kardon audio, electric front seats with 2-way lumbar and massage function.

Key colours on the Megane EV include the diamond black, shadow grey, midnight blue, satin slate blue and flame red. Add accessories like the tool-free removable tow bar and the swan neck tow bar.
