Leasing a Volkswagen ID.Polo in the UK

Classic, but re-engineered, the new Polo will be coming to the UK in all-electric format for 2026. While the VW group deviated from their traditional products and brands, with their ID.3 / 4 / 5 / 7 direction, the German brand are making moves to return their affable vehicles to the “benchmark” status within the European car markets.

For many years, the Volkswagen name has really meant something and in many cases has been the litmus test for what constitutes a good or bad car. All of this without charging the customer more than necessary.

While the latest small hatchback could have been an ID.2, the move to an ID.Polo is a clear indication that familiarity is back on the menu. Key features will include the Connected travel Assist, Park assist Pro, 441L of boot space, illuminated VW logos, IQ.Light (LED matrix), choice of alloys up to 19”, digital displays in the form of a 10.25” digital cockpit and the 12.9” infotainment system, heated seats, practical USB ports, heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, optional heat pump, adaptive cruise control, side assist lane change with rear traffic alert, eco assistance, digital key and the optional Innovision Pro system.

One of the main features of the Polo is the return to physical buttons on many of the functions. This is crucial to their EV strategy, as this moves away from the complete digitisation of our vehicles. As we move through 2026, this is an area more customers are critiquing, with the focus on central screens not always a sage move. “Part car, part time machine” the Polo will offer a retro dash and display, combining nostalgia with the future of motoring.

Key colours include the Celestial Blue, Grenadilla black, Oyster Silver, Python Yellow, Tornado Red, Magnetic Grey and Candy White.

At the time of writing (July 2026) the Polo EV will include:

•  Life  - from £23,025;
•  Style – from £27,550; and
•  GTi – from £35,000 this will include 19” alloys, red brake calipers, diffuser, roof spoiler, premium sport seats, electronic front differential lock, adaptive dynamic chassis control, GTi performance looks and a multifunctional sports steering wheel.

How will the new VW ID.Polo perform? Is it a good EV?

•  Polo 52 kWh - with a usable battery of 52kWh this FWD compact offers 155kW (208hp), top speeds of 99 mph and 0-62 times of 7.1 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 175 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 240 miles (on a full charge) – 205 miles combined . The 11kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 5 hours and 45 minutes with the 105 kW DC enabling 10-80% in 24 minutes. The Polo EV has Bidirectional charging – V2L with an exterior Type 2 exterior outlet and UK interior socket. It has a 160-mpg equivalent and 441L cargo volume. The car can tow 750kg (Unbraked) and 1200kg (Braked). The heat pump is optional. 
•  Polo 37 kWh (99kW) - with a usable battery of 37.5kWh this FWD compact offers 85kW (114hp), top speeds of 99 mph and 0-62 times of 9.5 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 125 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 175 miles (on a full charge) – 150 miles combined . The 11kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 4 hours with the 88kW DC enabling 10-80% in 24 minutes. The Polo EV has Bidirectional charging – V2L with an exterior Type 2 exterior outlet and UK interior socket. It has a 162-mpg equivalent and 441L cargo volume. The car can tow 500kg (Unbraked) and 500kg (Braked). The heat pump is optional; and
