The robustness and reliability of electric cars was often brought into conversations when considering the next car purchase. Early into the adoption, we heard stories about the longevity of the battery, the cost of replacing and the reliability of the vehicle.
As there were so few cars, and car options, it was a difficult proposition to prove either way. However, as the SMMT have shown, the near-300,000 all electric vehicles registered in the UK during 2026 is now providing a fantastic array of vehicles to test and review. This is now happening, with the Nissan team being the first to provide their results and feedback.

As you can read over at the Nissan newsroom UK Nissan drivers have now exceeded three (3) billion miles in their vehicles, as the Nissan group now celebrate some 15 years of continuous vehicle sales. Using DVLA data, the Nissan EVs finally broke the 3 billion mark, which is equivalent of driving to the Moon and back 6000 times!
This is testament to the long-term strategy of Nissan, who have invested so early, and significantly, into the zero-emission sector.
With their early Nissan Leaf, through to their modern Micra, Ariya and Leaf SUV, the Japanese conglomerate have utilised the Sunderland factory to provide reliable and wholesome vehicles. In another key statistic, in driving this number of miles, the Nissan drivers have saved half a million tonnes of CO2, which would be the case if they were petrol options. Given the Leaf went on sale in 2011, there has been little to no complaint about the early product, and Nissan continues to be a popular brand.

For another Asian competitor, Genesis Motors, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Korean Hyundai group, having the market confidence is a positive aspect. This is especially so when they are introducing a luxury sports performance EV to the UK leasing market. “Wide and low” and disruptive by nature, the new sports performance derivative of the GV60 is aiming to bring excitement, thrills and athletic luxury to the UK leasing market.
Described as the Magma for its primal energy, the new GV60 brings a strong alternative to the rugged Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. With exclusive 21” forged alloys, 275mm Pirelli tyres and a lightweight construction with driving dynamics, this is a very interesting proposition.

The front and rear wheel arches include venting gaps to improve airflow and reduce drag. On the rear, the distinctive full width spoiler is there to assist with drag and ensure the vehicle stays planted on the road.
The interior is designed for performance and for the senses, with recent design awards for the interface and digital experience. The Magma exclusive seats have 10-way electronic, heated and cooled functionality with cushion material.
The thicker rim steering rim is designed for tactical command and control, with added features like the performance button or the Boost button (for peak power and 15 seconds of max throttle). The car will have a Virtual Gearshift so that you can manually adjust gears via the steering wheel. The interior can be a choice of the black with Magma Orange or the black with silver stitching.
Technology is not lacking on the Magma EV with vehicle and safety all managed by the Magma Control (a specific HUD, which allows the driver to have complete control) and the Magma Focus (the 27” panoramic display, which allows a 3-circle driving interface). Other aspects include the Magma sensation (a crystal sphere controller for the dashboard), Bang & Olufsen sound system, front/rear/side collision monitor and the track mode.

Key standard options include the privacy glass, rain sensing wipers, ventilated brakes, boost mode, electric rear tailgate, wireless phone charger, built-in dash camera, drift mode, digital key 2.0, forward collision warning, lane keep assist.
Remote smart parking, smart cruise control, surround view monitor, 27” OLED infotainment, HUD, augmented reality navigation, auto dimming mirrors, electrically adjustable / folding and heated door mirrors, B & O sound, high-performance battery preconditioning, flush handles.

LED lights, puddle lamps, air purifier, climate control, heat pump. Heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, 10-way adjustable driver seat, driver seat memory function, ventilated seats, immobiliser, electronic slip differential and 21” forged alloys.
Key colours include Vik Blak, Uyuni White, Saville Silver, Makalu Grey, Magma Orange, Makalu Grey Mat, Ceres Blue and Alta White solid.

There will be three battery configurations to choose from including:
