The litany of new electric cars entering the UK market during 2025 is only better news for our new and used leasing customers at e-car.
Whether you are a personal, business or salary sacrifice customer, choice is really crucial when it comes to a new car. Between 2020 - 2023, when mass-adoption of battery options began, there was slight criticism that certain segments of the market had either no options or very few.
As the petrol or diesel markets are so mature, you have a litany of car choices to ensure that you or your business can procure the perfect solution. However, the BEV market is very much a changing industry with so many brands looking to capitalise on the maturing environment in the UK. As we acknowledged recently, the Electric Car Grant is a £650 million war chest for brands to utilise to ensure that they have the investment and support to achieve the ambitions under the ZEV Mandate. While a fairly new innovation from the Government (it launched in July 2025), there is hope this can push the UK into a greener community.
While the new Kia EV4 and EV5 leasing deals are perfect examples of the changing landscape, it is also important to note that their success and progression are based on more than just aesthetics, performance and battery efficiency. A good example of this can be seen in the Zoopla announcement on 30 July 2025 in which the house buying website is looking to more prominently identify the availability of EV charging.
When UK home-buyers are looking for a new property, Zoopla are now adding a filter to help them identify properties with charge points on or around the property. The Zoopla group have noted that the increasing adoption of all-electric vehicles means that charging facilities and infrastructure is now a crucial part of the home purchasing journey. For sellers too, there is a clear advantage to having a charge point on or around your home. As set out, the filter will, from July 2025, allow you to filter by:
The changes on Zoopla are evidence that there is increasing demand for EVs and charging, ensuring that new products like the Kia EV4 and EV5 will more readily fit your lifestyle. Keeping the UK public regularly updated are the Zap Map team who consistently set out what charge points have been installed in each calendar month. Looking at June 2025, you will see that our country now benefits from 82,369 devices in 40,479 locations.
This is a net increase of 1,371 charging connections in just one month. While this is not taking into consideration the domestic improvements (which Zoopla are now addressing) the public charging domain is also relevant for PCH and BCH drivers. The Zap Map team also provide an illustration of the improving Rapid (50-149kW DC) and Ultra-Rapid (150kW+) points you can access.
As at June 2025, there are some 16,698 devices on 6,384 locations across the UK. The notable statistics are that 418 were added in June alone. As you will see on the statistics of the Kia EV4 and EV5, having a robust charger to quickly top-up your car is a big part of improving the market confidence.
The EV4 fastback and EV5 family SUV are two new options which are looking to benefit from the buoyant attitudes. The EV4 is the new fastback (configurable as a hatchback or saloon style) which is the “symbol of innovation” with increased size on the recently launched EV3.
This is very much an EV for any UK customers wanting robust range and charging acumen. As you would expect from the South-Korean brand, there are a whole host of options in the battery sizes (58 and 81.4 kWh) and the specification line-up. The vehicles include intuitive AI with the co-pilot, relaxation seats, 12.3” supervision cluster, 12.3” touchscreen display, OTA updates. Harmon Kardon sound system and the Digital Key 2.
There will be two battery options for UK customers including:
The Kia EV5 SUV is no different, with this 4x4 looking to compete against the likes of the VW ID4, Skoda Enyaq and Peugeot 3008. Built on the E-GMP dedicated EV platform this more traditional family option is going to be available in both FWD and AWD options.
With extensive interior space, advanced technology and a competitive range, this new BEV is trying to align with customers who want cutting-edge design and technology, with a flexible interior for your needs. As per the EV4, this will feature in Air, GT line and GT Lines S specifications.
Battery options include the 64.2 kWh and 88.1 kWh for the 2WD standard / Long Range and the AWD Long Range. For more information on the upcoming EV5 head to the Kia manufacturer website.
